Alpine A110 is small, light (approx. 1,100 kg) aluminum bodied mid-engined sports car manufactured in France. Among its main competitors are Porsche 718 Cayman, Audi TT, Toyota GR Supra and perhaps also Lotus Elise. Currently A110 is the only Alpine model available. A110 was introduced in 2017 and deliveries of the car started in 2018.
It's all about lightness - well perhaps not all - but lightness is a key ingredient in the A110. It's also compact in size. Lightness and compactness bring in lots of benefits, the car will be more agile, it doesn't need that much power, the components of the car are not put to so much stress and light weight means also lower fuel consumption.
How did Alpine achieve the light weight of approx. 1,100 kg on the A110? First of all, the A110 is built on a complete bespoke aluminium platform which is developed just for the A110 and not used on any other cars. A110 chassis is 96 % aluminium.
Alpine has released an interesting factory tour video of how the A110 is manufactured in its manufacturing plant in Dieppe, France. There is lot of bonding and riveting going on at the bodywork.
Alpine also paid lots of attention to detail to get to low weight. The standard Sabelt bucket seats for example weigh only 13.1 kg per seat. This is very light compared to normal car seats and Alpine has said that the weight has been reduced by up-to half compared to some competitors. Downsides? Well, the only (official) way to adjust the height of the bucket seats is to take them to an Alpine dealer who can adjust the seats to one of the three pre-determined height options. There is also a comfort seat option for the A110 with more adjustments and upholstery in leather – as expected comfort seats are a lot heavier than the standard bucket seats.
Another example of the weight saving measures is the all-aluminium rear brake caliber which has the parking brake actuator integrated into it. Alpine says that it was the world-first and saves 2.5 kg in weight.
In the end an A110 weighs roughly 300 kg less than Porsche 718 Cayman which is not a heavy-weight either. Perhaps it's not relevant to compare an A110 to non-sports cars but many modern SUVs are double the weight of an A110 and even more modestly sized modern cars usually weigh hundreds of kilos more than an A110.
The A110 platform is unique for that model but there is one major component of the car which is closely related to a component used elsewhere in the Renault group, that is the engine. Engine is very much the same as in the current Renault Megane RS. It is a four-cylinder 1.8-liter turbocharged unit producing 252 hp on the base model A110. That might not sound much on a sports car but the power-to-weight ratio is quite good due to low weight and the performance of the A110 is quite adequate (0-100 km/h in 4.5 sec). The location of the engine is different to Megane RS since A110 is mid-engine rear-wheel-drive car.
There is only one transmission option available on the A110 and that is 7-speed dual-clutch-transmission (DCT) gearbox manufactured by Getrag. Personally, I would've preferred manual transmission and one would assume that manual gearbox would've been lighter than DCT but Alpine actually says that total system weight including gear shifters etc. is lower with DCT than with manual transmission.
The suspension is handled by the double-wishbones front and rear. Very good for handling, not-so-good for luggage space. Well, priorities you know.
Alpine A110 has been well received on the motoring press and many journalists have liked its combination of light weight and excellent handling. For example here is a 4.5-star review by Evo Magazine and here is a 9 out of 10 review by Top Gear.
Motoring journalists like A110 quite much but the general public is not that well aware of its existence and it is not on the radar at all for most of the sports car buyers. Alpine as a brand is not a well-known quantity in most parts of the world and trying to compete with cars like Porsche 718 Cayman is a difficult task for an unknown brand. The total sales of Alpine A110 for the first four years (2018 to 2021) have been approx. 10,000 worldwide. Roughly 60 % of those have been sold in France where the Alpine brand is naturally best known.
Looking at the actual user experiences of the owners of the A110 it seems like most are quite happy with their purchase. Many owners seem to appreciate the lightness and the handling. Owners also like the fact that an A110 is different from the others. There seems to be lots of owners coming from a long line of Porsches wanting change or previous Lotus owners who want slightly more civilized car which is still light and compact.
So far, no major reliability issues have surfaced. Perceived quality of interior might not be the best but perhaps that is understandable since the development budget has been spent on things that matter more.
Pet hate of the owners seems to be the lack of storage space. That is understandable since the A110 doesn't have a glove department, door pockets nor much else in terms of storage space inside the car. The luggage space is also quite limited partly due to the space robbing double-wishbone suspension. There is a front boot with 96 l capacity and a rear boot with 100 l capacity.
Another thing that owners have been critical towards has been the multimedia system on the car which has not been very intuitive and has been considered old-fashioned. Multimedia system has been updated for the 2022 version and finally it also includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Hopefully the updated multimedia system will be an improvement.
At first the only model variant available was Premiere Edition which was basically a fully optioned version of the A110. Premiere Edition was limited to 1,955 examples and it sold out very quickly. Available colours for the Premiere Edition were Alpine Blue, Noir Profond (black) and Blanc Solaire (pearlescent white). The price for the Premiere Edition was 58,000 EUR in Germany which in hindsight was a bit of a bargain since the price included all possible options and optioning later Pure/Légende versions to the same level would've been quite a bit more expensive.
Premiere Edition was followed by Pure and Légende versions which were introduced in 2018. Technically Pure and Légende were identical and the differences were in standard equipment. As the name suggests Pure was the basic model with more focus on lightness whereas the Légende was better equipped and slightly more sophisticated version. Légende had more comfort-oriented leather seats, parking sensors/camera and better audio as standard. The standard wheels on Pure were 17” and on Légende they were 18”. The prices for Pure started at 54,200 EUR in Germany whereas the asking price for Légende was 58,000 EUR in 2018.
With the introduction of Pure/Légende three more colours became available so there were 2 white colours, two blue colours plus black and grey colour available. Not a very colourful colour palette. Only non-cost colour option was non-metallic white.
The next new model in the line-up was A110S which was introduced in 2019. It had updated engine with 292 horsepower compared to 252 hp on Pure/Légende. Other main differences to Pure/Légende were updated suspension including 50 per cent stiffer springs, better standard equipment and some options which were unique to A110S. The price of A110S was 66,700 EUR in Germany in 2020 which was approximately ten thousand euros higher than A110 Pure.
There have also been some special edition model variants in 2020 and 2021 including A110 Color Edition and A110 Légende GT. The Color Edition was an A110S with special yellow colour. The 2020 Légende GT had the 252 hp engine, slightly more luxurious interior and it had also one specific colour available, Mercury Silver. There was a Légende GT available in 2021 also, this time it had the 292 hp engine from the A110S but the standard suspension from the Pure/Légende.
Alpine also started to offer a personalization program called Atelier Alpine in 2020. That included 29 exterior paint colours and a possibility have different finishes on the wheels etc. Some of the Atelier colours are absolutely wonderful and brighten the otherwise dull A110 colour palette. Downside of this is the price, the Atelier colours cost almost 5,000 EUR in Germany.
Alpine updated the A110 range for 2022 model year. The distinction between Pure and Légende was gone and the model variants for 2022 were A110, A110 GT and A110 S.
The “new” A110 base model was basically the same as Pure used to be. The only change for the base model was the updated multimedia system which at last included Android Auto/Apple CarPlay. Naturally a price increase of slightly more than 1,000 EUR followed and the 2022 A110 price started at 58,850 EUR in Germany. The prices have crept up gradually and that price is almost 5,000 EUR higher than four years earlier.
Even though there was no Légende variant for 2022 there was now an option package called “Comfort Pack” which included comfort bucket seats, 18” Serac wheels, front and rear parking sensors, reversing camera and Focal audio system. If you take that option package then the car would be similar as the Légende used to be.
The 2022 A110 GT was very much like the 2021 A110 Légende GT with higher output 300 hp engine, the chassis/suspension from the base model and more luxurious standard equipment.
The A110 S was the model variant with the biggest changes for 2022. First of all, power had increased slightly from 292 hp to 300 hp, secondly there was a possibility to have an optional Aero Kit and Michelin Cup 2 semi slicks. Suspension settings had also been recalibrated plus some other minor changes had been made. A new Fire Orange colour had also been made available. That colour could be selected for the other model variants too but only in the A110 S that can be combined with a black roof.
Alpine introduced few new limited edition model variants during 2022. First of those was A110 GT J. Rédélé edition which was a tribute to the Alpine founder Jean Rédélé who was born 100 years earlier. This limited edition model was a A110 GT with special Montebello Grey colour and black roof and some other minor changes. Production was limited to 100 units and list price in France was 83,000 EUR.
The next limited edition for 2022 was the A110 South Beach Colorway which was basically two new exterior colours (Bleu Azur and Rose Bruyère) plus some minor detail interior changes. These colours were introduced to celebrate the Miami F1 grand prix.
The South Beach Colorway was followed by the A110 Tour De Corse 75 which was inspired by the Alpine A110 that competed in Tour De Corse rally in 1975. Biggest difference to regular A110 S was a color scheme to imitate the rally car from 1975 which included white Serac wheels and orange brake calipers. The list price for this limited edition was 80,000 EUR in France and the production was limited to 150 units.
Towards the end of 2022 Alpine also introduced a new top-of-the-line model A110 R as in Radical. This was a lightened more track-oriented version with some quite extreme weight saving measures. There were several carbon bits like the bonnet, roof, wheels and even the rear window was replaced by a carbon part. Inside there was a new Sabelt carbon seats with six point harness. There were also several changes to the chassis but the enginge remained the same 300 horsepower unit from the A110 S. The A110 R was available with a new Racing Matte Blue colour in addition to regular A110 colours.
The weight of the Radical was 1,082 kg which is 34 kg less than regular A110 S. So, even with radical weight saving measures the weight difference to regular A110 is not that big. It is really difficult to make big weight savings from the already very light base car. The perfomance for the Radical has increased slightly, the 0 to 100 km/h time dropping from 4.2 sec (A110 S) to 3.9 sec. The price of the A110 R was slightly above 100,000 EUR.
The A110 R was not a limited edition but Alpine introduced also an A110 R Fernando Alonso which was limited to 32 units as a tribute to Alonso's 32 F1 victories. In practice A110 R Fernando Alonso was a A110 R with some colouring and chassis changes.
The regular A110 model variants remained unchanged for 2023 but Alpine continued releasing new special editions on 2023. The starting price for the base model A110 in Germany had increased again for 2023 and was 61,950 EUR (07/2023). The A110 GT was priced at 71,950 EUR, the A110 S at 73,950 EUR and A110 R at 109,950 EUR.
First of the 2023 special editions was the Alpine A110 San Remo 73, which according to Alpine "celebrates the 50th anniversary of its victory in the Sanremo Rally and the first manufacturer's title in the 1973 World Rally Championship." This was very similar in concept as the 2022 A110 Tour de Corse 75. Yet again the biggest difference to regular A110 S was the colour scheme to imitate 1973 A110 rally car. The A110 San Remo 73 had a light blue "Caddy Blue" main colour with black and red roof plus white wheels.
The Sabelt seats on the San Remo 73 had six-point racing harness instead of regular seat belts. Alpine was planning to produce 200 units of this special edition and the starting price for it was 89,000 EUR in France.
The next limited edition variant for 2023 was the Alpine A110 R Le Mans. This model was to celebrate 100 years of 24 Hours Le Mans race. As the name suggests, the A110 R Le Mans was based on the A110 R. It had exclusive white and blue livery and some subtle styling touches including Le Mans circuit layout engraved on the sun visor.
Alpine also promised owners of the A110 R Le Mans an exclusive access to the Alpine endurance racing team in Le Mans 2024 and a possibility to take a lap on the track on the morning before the start of the race. The planned production run for the A110 R Le Mans was 100 units and the starting price 140,000 EUR in France.
The next limited edition for 2023 was the Alpine A110 S Enstone Edition which was introduced in July 2023. The name Enstone refers to the location of the Alpine F1 racing team in the UK. This limited edition was an A110 S with two special matt grey colours available (Gris Tonniere and Argent Mercure) and a matt-black roof. The interior of Enstone Edition featured black microfibre as well as some carbon parts manufactured in the Alpine F1 factory in Enstone.
Alpine planned to make 300 of these Enstone Editions and the starting price for this model variant was 85,000 EUR in France.
Alpine also expanded the Atelier custom colour palette with three new livery options called "French Signature", "Racing Heritage" and "US Racing".
Alpine introduced 2024 model versions in December 2023 with production planned to start in March 2024. A new model version for 2024 was A110 R Turini which was same as A110 R introduced in 2022 except the wheels. The wheels on A110 R Turini were 18" GT Race matte black aluminium wheels instead of A110 R's carbon wheels. Apparently A110 R has been quite popular model variant but not everybody wants more expensive and fragile carbon wheels on their car. It also seems like Alpine has had some issues with availability of the carbon wheels on A110 R. The new A110 R Turini model version is six thousand euro cheaper than A110 R on the continental Europe.
Other model versions for 2024 were the same as in 2023 ie. A110, A110 GT, A110 S and A110 R. The base model had some additions to its standard equipment, since now the 18" Serac wheels, 320 mm brake discs, electronically retractable exterior mirrors and aluminium sports pedals were standard. That meant that the previous 17" standard wheels and smaller 296 mm brakes were not available anymore.
New standard equipment on the GT version for 2024 included Focal Premium audio system, anti-reflective rear-view mirror, heated seats and aluminium pedals. Standard wheels on GT were changed from 18" Legende wheels to 18" black Grand Prix wheels.
A110 S switched from 18" GT Race wheels to lighter 18" Fuchs wheels as standard. Other new standard equipment on A110 S were anti-reflective rear-view mirror and black boomerang headlights.
Better standard equipment meant also increased prices. Prices for different 2024 model variants in Germany on December 2023 were: A110 64,450 EUR, A110 GT 75,450 EUR, A110 S 76,950 EUR and A110 R 109,950 EUR. Official price for 2024 A110 R Turini was not available when writing this, but as mentioned it should be 6,000 EUR less than A110 R.
The price increase on the base model was 2,600 EUR on 2024 compared to 2023 model which is pretty much the same as the price for the additional standard equipment would've been.
Alpine announced four new Atelier colours and four new interior colour schemes in June 2024. These were made available for A110 S and A110 R Turini versions. New Atelier external colours were Matte Storm Blue, Seismic Red, Matte Acid Green and Matte Carbon Black. New interior colour schemes included finishes in Grey, Red, Blue and Orange.
Big news for the model year 2025 was the introduction of the A110 R Ultime in October 2024. A110 R Ultime had 345 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque which was 45 hp and 80 Nm more than previous top models. The 7-speed DCT gearbox on other A110 model variants has been the limiting factor for power/torque increases so Alpine put quite a lot of effort in replacing the gearbox with a 6-speed gearbox which can handle more torque.
A110 R Ultime features modified turbo, Akrapovic titanium exhaust, Öhlins adjustable dampers and upgraded brakes with 330 mm AP Racing bi-material discs. According to Alpine, the R Ultime's downforce has been increased 160 kg at the maximum speed compared to R Turini.
Whereas other A110 version have 18" wheels at a maximum, the wheel size on the R Ultime is 18" on the front and 19" on the rear. The wheels are forged aluminium wheels instead of carbon wheels on the A110 R.
The performance increase on the A110 R Ultime is marginal compared to A110 R Turini since the 0-100 km/h time for the ultime is 3.8 sec instead of 3.9 sec.
The price for the A110 R Ultime was 265,000 eur in France which meant that it was more than four times the price of a base model A110 and more than double compared to previous top model A110 R. Huge price difference! There is also more personalization possibilities for the A110 R Ultime which naturally means more scope for increased pricing on an individual car. The A110 R Ultime is a limited edition and Alpine plans to produce 110 examples.
There were no changes for the other A110 model variants for 2025 except that the A110 R with the carbon wheels was no longer available. Therefore the other available model variants for 2025 were A110, A110 GT, A110 S and A110 R Turini. Starting prices for those were 64,450 eur for the A110, 75,450 eur for the A110 GT, 76,950 eur for the A110 S and 103,950 eur for the A110 R Turini in Germany in February 2025. This means that the prices were exactly the same as one year earlier.
Alpine announced a mid-year revamp to the A110 line-up at the end of February 2025. Two new model variants were introduced and two model variants were dropped from the line-up.
The first new model variant was a limited edition A110 R 70 to celebrate Alpine's 70th anniversary. Technically the A110 R 70 was based on the A110 R model and had the same 300 horsepower and 340 Nm engine as the A110 R.
The production run of the A110 R 70 was planned to be 770 units which included 70 cars in new Bleu Caddy colour plus 70 in Blanc Glacier and 70 in Rouge Sismique. Alpine calls these three new colours French tricolour colours and they will also have an Alpine 70 year logo on their carbon fibre roof.
With the A110 R 70 model also the carbon wheels made a return to A110. Other notable equipment on A110 R 70 were Akrapovic exhaust, seven possible colours for the Brembo brake calibers and Michelin Cup 2 tyres.
A110 R 70 was available in ten different body colours and four interior colour schemes.
The other new model variant which was introduced at the end of February 2025 was A110 GTS which replaced A110 GT and A110 S variants. The A110 GTS had the same 300 hp engine as both GT and S. What was new was that the A110 GTS had the leather comfort seats in combination the stiffer A110 S chassis.
The A110 GTS was available with a new optional GTS aero kit as well as optional 18" GT Race wheels with Michelin Cup 2 tyres. There were also five new Atelier colours available for the A110 GTS: Bleu Paon, Orange Acropolis, Orange Solaire, Bleu Eclipse and Gris Acier.
Alpine also announced that the launch of the updated model range marks the start of the last 12 months to order the current A110 model. This means that the A110 production was planned to end sometimes in 2026 and there would be an electric A110 coming to replace the petrol version.
With these changes the A110 line-up from March 2025 consisted of the following model variants: A110, A110 GTS and A110 R 70. It seems like Alpine had also dropped the A110 R Turini from the line-up even though they didn't communicate that separately. The starting prices for the remaining models were 65,000 eur for the A110, 79,500 eur of the A110 GTS and 122,500 eur for the A110 R 70 in France in March 2025.

How many new generation Alpine A110's have been sold over they years? Here is a summary of A110 sales figures from 2018 when it's production started until 2023.
The total sales of Alpine A110 globally between 2018 and 2023 has been 18,983 cars. This number is based on the sales figures which Alpine or Renault Group has published.
The global A110 sales per year have been as follows:
Global sales | 2023 | 2022 | 2021 | 2020 | 2019 | 2018 | Total |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Total sales | 4,328 | 3,546 | 2,659 | 1,527 | 4,832 | 2,091 | 18,893 |

How many A110's have been sold on each country where A110 has been available? Well, complete sales data for each country for each year when A110 has been in sale has not been available but there is some data published which enables some sales analysis by country. Alpine has published A110 sales figures by country for 2023, 2022, 2021 and 2020. Unfortunately sales information for each country has not been published for each year. For the first two years when Alpine has been in sale (2018 and 2019), there is some data available from other sources, but unfortunately that data is also not complete.
By far the largest A110 market has been France where 11,519 A110 have been sold between 2018 and 2023. That is 61 % of all A110's sold globally. Based on these figures A110 sales are heavily dependent on the domestic market.
The second biggest market for A110 has been Germany with 1,626 cars sold in the six year period. This means 8.6 % of all the A110's sold globally. Third biggest market for A110 has been the UK where Alpine has managed to sell 1,205 A110's in total according to the data. That is 6.3 % of all the A110's sold.
Japan is most likely the fourth biggest market for Alpine followed by Belgium/Luxembourg (923 cars/4.9 %) and Switzerland (744 cars/3.9 %). Then there is a big drop to the next country which is Austria with 237 A110's sold between 2018 and 2023.
Based on available data a little over 90 % of all Alpine A110's sold have been sold in Europe. It's not possible to calculate exact numbers but most likely the percentage of European sales is around 91 % to 92 %. That means that out of the approx. 19,000 A110's sold, approx. 1,600 - 1,700 cars have been sold outside of Europe. Most of them have been sold in Japan. Sales numbers in Japan for 2018 and 2019 have not been available but 837 A110's were sold in Japan between 2020 and 2023. The peak sales year for Japan was 2023 when Alpine sold 273 cars in there.
According to the data available Alpine managed to sell 71 A110's in Australia which is the second largest non-European market for A110. However, the data for Australia is incomplete, and therefore there should be slightly more A110's sold in Australia than that number suggests.
Here is more detailed breakdown of A110's sold in each country from 2018 to 2023. Note that data is complete only for the biggest A110 markets.

Therefore sales numbers on some countries may be included on those two rows and therefore the numbers on individual countries may in reality be slightly higher than indicated on the table.
I live in Finland and own a 2022 A110 which I have imported from Belgium. There are no Alpine dealers in Finland so all the new generation A110's in Finland have been imported individually from other countries. How many A110's there are in Finland?
As you can imagine, the A110 is quite a rare sight in Finland and according to the latest official open data of all cars registered in Finland there are four new generation A110's in Finland at the moment. The latest available data at the time of writing this in February 2024 was from 30 June 2023. The authorities also publish data on all the used cars imported to Finland and that data was available up-to 31 December 2023 and accoding to that data no A110's were imported to Finland as used cars in 2023.
The Finnish A110's are as follows:
