Renault Megane RS 280 is the hot-hatch version of the fourth generation
Renault Megane. The Megane IV RS was manufactured between 2018 and 2023.
Initially there were two versions of the RS, the RS 280 and the RS 300
Trophy.
As the name suggests the RS 280 was a 280 horsepower version (although in
reality 279 hp) and the RS 300 Trophy a 20 horsepower more powerful
version. Besides slighty different engine tune, the main differences
between RS 280 and the Trophy version were that the Trophy had the Cup
suspension, bi-material brakes, limited slip differential, RS Monitor
telemetrics and 19" wheels as standard which were options on the RS 280.
Both versions were available with manual or automated dual-clutch
transmission, both with six gears.
Megane RS received a face-lift for 2021 model year and from there on both
the Trophy and the regular RS had 300 horsepower so the name of the base
model was changed to RS 300.
My car is Megane RS 280 manual first registered in 2021. Since it's
pre-facelift version it probably is manufactured in 2020 and therefore
actual model year is most likely 2020. However I will call it Renault
Megane RS 280 2021 since that corresponds to the actual first registration
of my car.
